SUMI TYPING is a free online typing test and practice game in living Japanese ink worlds — eight modes from timed sprints to zen and code, live WPM & accuracy, and a global leaderboard. Your score is net WPM — the number of correctly typed characters divided by five, per minute — the same measure other major typing tests use, so your results are directly comparable. The eight modes of SUMI TYPING:

One Stroke (一筆) — the core timed typing test: 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds.

The Story (物語) — 72 long tales on six pace shelves; type at each tale's pace to seal its chapters.

Shadow (影) — race the ghost of your own best run.

Practice (稽古) — drills built from your own logged mistakes: your missed words and weakest keys.

The Forge (鍛冶) — code and syntax typing practice: keywords, operators, brackets.

Seated Stillness (座禅) — an un-timed zen mode: long-form calm, no clock, only flow.

Life of Shinobi (忍び) — an arcade round: slice the words out of the sky before they fall.

Live Blade (真剣) — sudden death: a single wrong strike ends the run.
